Alexander von Humboldt (1769 – 1859): intrepid explorer, creator of modern environmentalism, and the most famous scientist of his age. Though now nearly forgotten, he was a major influence on Darwin, Muir, and Thoreau, among many others, and well-known for his stances and writings against colonialism and slavery. Sabina Fazlic of Go Green Northbrook will lead the discussion.
