How do we confront misinformation to become informed voters? Join us for a conversation on the importance of media literacy to find unbiased, factual information in an oversaturated media landscape.

Panelists include:

  • Michael Spikes, director of Northwestern University's Teach for Chicago Journalism program
  • DeMario Phipps-Smith, journalist and senior manager of community learning at the News Literacy Project
  • Joe Coughlin, co-founder and editor in chief of The Record North Shore

The discussion will be moderated by League of Women Voters of Wheaton board member, Barbara Laimins. A Q&A will follow.

This program is presented in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Glenview & Glencoe. Complementing programs will be offered by the Glencoe and Glenview libraries later in 2023.

This event will be held live in-person in the auditorium. Please review our current safety guidelines prior to attending an in-person event.

The program will also be live-streamed on YouTube. You will receive the link to watch the event the day before.
