KAN-WIN's Gender-Based Violence Parent Workshop focuses on Erin's Law, which is mandatory for all public schools in Illinois (and 33 states in the U.S.), and provides guidance to students from Pre K to grade 12, school staff, parents, and guardians on how to address sexual violence appropriately for the child's age and grade. It is a physical safety training that teaches children how to protect themselves from harm and skills in speaking to a trusted adult in case of a problem. The content includes how to distinguish between healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships, grooming, consent, warning signs, victims' legal rights and options, what parents should know and how to teach their children by ages. Also we will discuss how to create a healthy and safe space for communication when your child needs help.
