Road Scholar Connie Martin unravels the hidden tales woven into the family quilts of her ancestors.

Drawing from her mother's book, Lizzie’s Story: A Slave Family’s Journey to Freedom, Connie masterfully unveils the quilt codes that served as a clandestine language among abolitionists, showcasing their use in signaling escape routes and allies on the Underground Railroad.

This program is presented in partnership with Seeking Opportunities to Build Interracial Friendships and the Baha'is of Northbrook.
