As children become a solo cyclists within the community, it's critical that they know best practices to keep themselves and others safe. This program focuses on introducing safety skills, instilling confidence, and making cycling fun for caregivers and kids. The program covers practical safety tips for children and guardians including basic rules of the road, riding on sidewalks and sharing multi-use trails. Basic skills such as use of hand signals, avoiding crashes, being visible and predictable, and communicating with cyclists and motorists will be discussed. In addition to riding skills, the course also discusses basic bike maintenance and preparation, appropriate bike fit, helmet fit, lights, reflectors and clothing.
