Melissa Isaacson, award-winning sports journalist, joins moderator Evelyn Eman Delmar for a Q&A followed by a signing of her book, State. A pioneer in her field at the Chicago Tribune and ESPN, Melissa was the first female principal beat writer for the Bulls and Bears at the Tribune, covering every major U.S. sports championship and overseas, the Olympics and Wimbledon among others. Now an assistant professor at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, she also has a lot to share about her own experience as a member of Illinois’ 1979 state champion high school basketball team. On this 50th Anniversary of the passage of Title IX, Melissa will recount how this historic bill has transformed girls’ sports and lives.
This program will be held in-person live in the auditorium. Safety precautions are in place for in-person programs according to library guidelines. Please review our current safety guidelines prior to attending an in-person event.
