The library will be closed on Friday, May 9 for staff training.
Award-winning author Michael Zapata guides us through the relationship between the past and the future, the real and the unreal, and discusses strategies to create otherworldly works of fiction.
When we write fiction, we create parallel worlds. As such, possibility is not only a question of genre or believability on the page, but also one of language: What if?
In speculative genres, the relationship between the past and the future, the real and the unreal is often blurred beyond recognition. In this workshop, the award-winning author of the novel The Lost Book of Adana Moreau and StoryStudio instructor Michael Zapata will guide writers through these relationships and discuss craft techniques and artful strategies to create speculative and otherworldly works of fiction. The workshop will also include a writing exercise and a Q&A!
In partnership with StoryStudio Chicago.
This event will be held live online using Zoom. Once you have registered, check your email the day of the program for a link to join the meeting.
