Auditorium - First FloorFounded in 1983, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band blends Eastern European traditions with jazz, swing, and Yiddish theater. This show features the quintet with Lisa Fishman, a touring singer artist.
Founded in 1983, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band preserves and innovates with the traditional music of Eastern European immigrants which merged with American jazz and swing of the 1920s-1930s and with the Yiddish theater to create the early American klezmer sound. Maxwell Street has played at Carnegie Hall, toured Europe, and provided the celebratory soundtrack for Chicagoland’s simchas for over four decades. This show features Vocalist Lisa Fishman--a singer, actress, and recording artist who has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe in a diverse career spanning TV, musicals, and the Broadway stage. Lisa tours with the band and is featured on Maxwell Street’s best-selling album, “You Should Be So Lucky!”
