A concert of Indian Classical Hindustani music in its varied flavors that is pure classical, semi classical, regional adaptation and folk oriented.
OuVocal, Flute , violin and guitar supported by Tabla the percussion instrument . Hindustani is a classical mode of music from Northern part of India and is based on ‘ Raaga’ i.e, a melodic concept composed of varied combinations of the 7 musical notes. The Raagas also represent and evoke moods of different seasons, as well as moods of each part of a day, from early morning to middle of the night.
This music also renders itself to spiritual expression in the form called as Keertans and bhajans .
Finally as it evolves even today, the classical music is heavily borrowed into popular musical entertainment forming the basis of modern Bollywood movie songs.
The musicians will present: Raag Malhar representing the rainy season, Raag Pilu - the spring festival of colors, a feel of early morning as evoked by Raag Bhairavi and other keerthans. The concert will end with more contemporary melodies.
