Art historian Jeff Mishur presents a selection of African American artists of the 20th century, including works by Henry Ossawa Tanner, Aaron Douglass, Walter Ellison, Archibald Motley Jr., Jacob Lawrence, and Faith Ringgold. Their artwork will be discussed within the context of major European and American art movements including the Harlem Renaissance, a cultural movement occurring between the wars in the United States.
